HOLISTIC PROGRAMMING
The human body is an organism made up of different systems that all work together. The goal of holistic programming should be to bring all of these systems into a state of balance and harmony.
The body also has a hierarchy of needs; an example of this is the most important thing to your body is that you breathe. If you don’t breath you will quickly feel the consequences. If there is anything stopping you breathing efficiently, your body will correct the problem.
This correction can be at the expense of anything lower on your hierarchy of needs, one response might be to change your posture which can lead to pain and injury anywhere from your back down to your calves. Treating the area of pain will not solve the issue. You will not rid the body of pain until you treat the cause, which in this case is breathing.
Western medicine has taught practitioners to treat the signs and symptoms that our body is showing. This has been termed the ‘band aid’ approach, meaning we are not treating the cause and our treatment is only effective until the disease finds another way to tell you that things are wrong.
Nutrition (link) is not as simple as prescribing the food pyramid for everyone. Callum will look at your biological needs and guide you to making good health choices.
There are a number of ‘body pumps’ that are designed to help circulate blood, oxygen and energy around the body. All organs are connected to your spine through nerves, if the back or neck gets impaired movement this can directly affect the organ associated with that part of the spine. With most people sitting at a workstation for 8-10+ hours a day can lead to restriction of the rhythmic movement of these systems. Callum uses a lot of chi gong movements to get these working again to increase health and vitality.
